About us

Both of us have been carrying the dream of a really long journey within ourselves for years already, each one approaches this idea from a different direction. Kathi knows the individual and independent way of travelling from numerous adventures in the mountains in South America and the Himalaya, Sandro knows it from the countless bike tours he has done all over the world. Joint tours in the past years, most notably our two month tour through New Zealand and the exploration of the deserts and mountains in Morocco on our bikes have affirmed us that there is an endless amount of new things to discover on this world on our own account.

Having grown up in the mountains of the Tyrol and having discovered the world on skis at the early age of two already, mountains, woods and rock were essential elements of my childhood adventures. I joined my family on a number of bike tours in Austria, cycled around Lake Neusiedl and scaled Corsican passes in the summer heat.
Influenced by a family of mountaineers, in which both father and brother have climbed a few 8.000m mountains and have reached the top of Mount Everest, I smelled real mountain air for the first time when I stood on Mont Blanc at the age of 16. My university studies of sports management took me to Vienna where running and cycling in the Vienna Woods and along the Danube has kept me fit. Numerous trips to South America and the Himalaya as trekking guide did not completely still my hunger for mountain peaks and nurtured the desire for foreign cultures and the wilderness of nature. That’s when I climbed my first 6.000m mountain that took me a bit closer to the sun.
Through Sandro I have found back to my “bike roots” and enjoy experiencing this wonderful means of travel on two wheels together with him.

Half Austrian, half Italian I have always been exposed to a very international environment. I grew up in Klosterneuburg outside Vienna and have studied, worked and lived in many countries in Europe and in the USA.
I have been into sports since my early childhood - cycling, cross-country skiing, mountain and rock climbing were frequently on my schedule - and in all of them my exploratory spirit was always very pronounced. Already then I was enthused by unusual travel- and touring-ideas, I preferred taking the bike to get somewhere rather than another means of travel and was fascinated if the distance covered could still be recognized on a map with a small scale, in the best case a map of the world.
I cycled to school, later university and work in Vienna, always following the river Danube. My bicycle tours began at the age of 14 in the Vienna Woods and the hills of the Eastern Austrian regions ‘Weinviertel’ and ‘Waldviertel’. Quickly, the Alps with their countless passes were my next goal before I started crossing all over Europe and out into the world. Already then I always travelled with full gear which included sleeping bag and tent.
